Ciryl Gane became the first French fighter to win a UFC world title when he took his interim heavyweight title at UFC 265 in Texas on Saturday night.
Ciryl Gane, 31, grabbed the interim title by defeating contender Derrick Lewis at the main event in Houston.
It was only his 10th fight as a professional mixed martial artist.
“I’m happy, I’m proud,” Gane said after his TKO win in the third round.

Gane’s winning streak improved his perfect MMA record to 10-0 with seven wins at distance.
It also created a mouthwatering combined title match with his former teammate and training partner, the current undisputed UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou of Cameroon.
When asked if he had a message for his former colleague, Gane simply said: “The battle will happen. Let’s go. Let’s go.”
